When moving into a new home it is always a good idea to organize all of your household items into a sensible fashion. There are a variety of organizers you can pick up at your local Lowes or Home Depot. It is never too late to organize your home items, but doing it as you move in will save you a lot of headaches.
What would work best for your home? Well that is solely up to your budget and what you are looking for. Most closet organizers are modular making it very simple to add on later down the road if your budget is tight. We will look through a few different ways to organize your closets in this article.
Wire Shelving:
There are two real popular ways of closet organizing with wire shelving; the super slide and shelf track systems. But the best way to go overall would be using the shelf track system in your new home. It is typically more expensive but the shelf track if installed correctly is the strongest way of home organization. The track system itself is secured to the wall (only recommended where studs lie). Secured into the studs the track system is anchored into your home wall almost as strong as concrete. The next step of installation is adding the shelf brackets which will typically come in a few different sizes. You can choose from a 12” bracket, 16” bracket and 24” bracket which is usually standard. Depending on the manufacturer there may be some various sizes. The next step is as simple as placing the shelving onto the brackets. Note some brackets may have a clip built in to allow for the shelving to simply snap in securing it further.
The super slide shelving system is fairly basic and easy to install. There are a little more parts required for installation. To start the parts you will be required to purchase are preloaded wall clips, support braces, shelving, and some end caps. First step to install this shelving system into your home is to plan where you would like it. After that is done you may wish to start either at the bottom of your closet or where ever you may wish to place the shelves. Measure out the distance between each wall clip which will usually be between one and two feet apart. It is important to make your shelving level so before you drill any holes make sure your clips are being placed parallel to each other. Once all that is accomplished you can begin to drill the holes for your preloaded call clips. Now that is all done preferably with two people have someone hold the shelving while the wall clips are inserted into the newly drilled holes. The preloaded anchors will have a metal pin sticking out of it and once your clips are in place and everything is level on your new home shelving take a hammer and hit that pin until it is no longer sticking out. The pin will expand the wall anchor making a secure hold into the drywall of your home. Now that is finished it is time to place the support braces to the wall and shelf. The braces will have a hook meant to hold the shelving in place at the front of the bracket, simply clip that to the shelving, level out the shelves and place the bottom of the brace against the wall marking it with a pen or pencil. Repeat this step for each area under the preloaded ball brackets. Once that is done your shelves are just about done in your house. Be sure to place the end caps onto any cut shelving eliminating any sharp edges.
Modular Laminated Wood Organizers:
The other method of organizing your home is laminated wood organizers. This style of organizing is great for just about any room or closet in your home. You can choose from shoe racks, open shelves, bins, drawers or cabinet style. These are all great for organizing a room with a lack of furniture in your home or straightening out the closet. The wood organization all needs to be assembled, there are some units which you may find that do not require assembly, but the majority of each home organizational unit does not come assembled
